We have put together this guide to Msuna Fishing Resort

Msuna Island situated on the Zambezi River between Batoka Gorge and Devils’ Gorge. Msuna is a resort catering for keen fishermen and their families. The lush gardens and indigenous trees create a birder’s paradise.

Winter months June/July are balmy with chilly nights and early mornings only. The rest of the year is hot with temperatures in the high 30s.

There is a large communal swimming pool on the island, designed so that small children and adults can enjoy a swim together.  The shallow area is shaded.

The store sells basic toiletries, washing powder, dry goods and tin foods. Beers, mixers and a limited range of spirits are available for sale too.

Regional/overseas visitors to the Island pay a one off entry fee of US$5.00 per person.  Zimbabweans pay the same at the RTGS rate of the day.

National Parks have separate charges for river usage and fishing.

Fishing

Msuna is located in one of the most stunning sections of the Zambezi River and it offers fishermen a wide variety of fish species to catch. The most prominent fish is the mighty Tigerfish with its powerful fighting ability.

To get the most out of fishing in the Msuna area you will need to be on the water, if you have a boat with you it is a massive plus but if you do not have a boat, majority of the lodges will offer rafts to rent on a half or full-day basis and they will come with a skipper who will be able to guide you to fishing spots that are renowned for catching specific fish species.

Birding

 Transfers to Msuna Resort

You can fly to Victoria Falls airport

  • Air Zimbabwe has local flight connections between Harare, Victoria Falls, Johannesburg and Bulawayo. Air Zimbabwe is the cheapest flight option in Zimbabwe, but with this comes a risk that your flight may be delayed by an hour or so.

  • Rainbow Airlines is a relatively new airline, and it currently has flight connections between Harare and Victoria Falls (and regionally, Johannesburg).

  • Fastjet is a low-cost airline that connects Harare, Victoria Falls, and other regional locations. A good budget alternative that is much quicker than using the bus.

  • BravoFly/FlyAfrica is a low-cost airline that connects Harare, Victoria Falls, Bulawayo, and other destinations around southern Africa. This is a budget airline but it has mixed reviews in terms of reliability.

You can be transferred to Msuna.
